Stroke Awareness Month: Supporting Recovery After Stroke

May 2026

← Back to News

May is Stroke Awareness Month. River Vista Health supports the Stroke Association in helping to raise awareness of stroke symptoms, prevention and the importance of rehabilitation after stroke.

Every day, hundreds of people across the UK experience the life-changing effects of a stroke. A stroke can affect movement, balance, speech, fatigue, confidence and independence, often impacting not only the individual but also their family and carers.

Recognising the signs of stroke quickly is vital. The FAST test can help identify common symptoms:

  • Face drooping
  • Arm weakness
  • Speech difficulties
  • Time to call 999

The quicker treatment begins, the better the chances of recovery.

At River Vista Health, we understand that recovery after stroke looks different for everyone. Neurological physiotherapy can help improve mobility, balance, strength, confidence and participation in day-to-day activities, whether someone is newly discharged from hospital or living with the long-term effects of stroke.
